As the name implies, this is the dance of the lesong or mortar - the receptable in which paddy is pounded into rice. It is performed as an item of entertainment during a gawai or more appropriate after the rice harvest. The performer dances with the suppleness and agility of the ngajat dancer and lifting the mortar (weighing about 20kg) with his teeth.
